Your account & sync

Guest use stores tasks and settings locally on your device. When you create a free account, Foci uses Supabase for authentication and cloud sync of tasks, settings, and streak/session data so you can use Foci across devices. Email (or other auth provider details you choose) is used to sign you in and protect your account. The app may also keep a local cache on your device for offline use.

Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions (for example keeping you signed in), analytics, and — on some public pages — advertising. Essential cookies are required for the service to work. Analytics and advertising cookies are optional and, where required by law, are set only after you consent.

You can change your choices at any time with Cookie settings or through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect sign-in or other features.

Consent & your choices

On your first visit we ask whether you allow optional analytics and advertising cookies. You can accept all, reject non-essential cookies, or choose each category separately. We apply your choice through Google Consent Mode, so Google Analytics and Google AdSense run without analytics or advertising storage until you allow them.

Where required (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland), we obtain consent before serving personalized ads and provide a way to withdraw it. You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the cookie settings link above.

Analytics

When you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate product usage — for example page views and feature events. Analytics help us improve Foci. We do not sell personal focus or task data.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense on public marketing and content pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Advertising cookies and personalized ads are enabled only after you allow advertising.

We load the AdSense library on eligible public content pages so Google can verify the site and serve ads. Until you allow advertising, Google Consent Mode keeps ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization denied, so no advertising cookies are set and ads are non-personalized. Where Google serves non-personalized ads, it may still use limited data for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention as described in Google's policies.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices. You can also learn how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

We show Google ads only on public marketing and content pages (for example the homepage, blog, features, and help). The signed-in focus workspace (/app), login, admin, stats, privacy, terms, and contact pages are kept free of display ads so deep-work sessions stay distraction-free.

Your privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal focus or task content. Advertising and analytics data may be shared with Google as described above; you can opt out using Cookie settings or by emailing hello@usefoci.com. We do not discriminate against users who exercise privacy rights.

Error monitoring

We use Sentry to detect and diagnose crashes and errors. Sentry may receive technical information such as the page URL, browser type, and error details. We do not intentionally send task titles or focus notes to Sentry.

Data retention & deletion

Guest data stays in your browser until you clear it. Account data is retained while your account is active. You can delete tasks and projects in the app, export your data at any time, or email hello@usefoci.com to request account deletion. We may retain limited records where required by law or to prevent abuse.

International transfers

Foci is available worldwide. Our service providers (including Supabase, Google, and Sentry) may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Children

Foci is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

What we do not do

• No selling of personal focus or task content
• No paid plan required for core timer and task features
• No display ads inside the focus workspace (/app)
• No advertising or analytics cookies before consent where consent is required

Third-party services

Optional features may load content from third parties you choose (for example Spotify or SoundCloud embeds, free radio stream hosts, or Incompetech CC music). Those services have their own privacy policies. Cloud sync and auth, when enabled, use Supabase. Advertising and analytics may use Google services as described above. Error monitoring uses Sentry.

Weather: if you use the weather chip, our server may send your IP address to ipwho.is, ipapi.co, or geojs.io to estimate your city, then request a forecast from Open-Meteo. We do not request precise device location, and the weather response is cached only in your own browser rather than a shared cache.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
